Lessons from Experience

While transformation has been discussed at length in the communications industry, the dialogue in many ways has been limited to a technical scope. This explains why we have seen so much investment in new IP, IPTV and IMS technologies, as service providers transform their networks to address the convergence of voice, data and video services across fixed, wireless and satellite networks. What we at Alcatel-Lucent have seen less of, however, is a consensus on the comprehensive impact that convergence forces are having on the core business strategies of service providers. As a result, some service providers are missing out on an opportunity to revisit fundamental business objectives required to remain competitive in today's highly dynamic environment.
