Light emitting diodes for telecommunications.

This paper reviews the design and device characteristics of high radiance LEDs intended for telecommunications using optical fibers. Recent transmission experiments using multimode and single mode fiber are also described. This paper will appear as a chapter in Optical Fiber Telecommunications ll, edited by S. E. Miller and I. P.
