Light scattering diagnostics of plasmas.
01 January 1983
This memorandum is a condensed version of an invited talk at the XVI International Conference on Phenomena in Ionized Gases, Dusseldorf, Germany, August 29 to September 2, 1983. Infrared laser and heterodyne detection techniques are described which have been developed during the past decade for studying density fluctuations in plasmas. Examples of applications of this diagnostic are discussed externally driven waves in plasmas, thermally excited waves and turbulent waves at plasma edges.
