We experimentally examine the performance of a single-polarization 42.7-Gb/s RZ-DQPSK optical signal. We evaluate the penalties arising from chromatic dispersion, polarization-mode dispersion, narrow filtering, and nonlinear transmission over standard single-mode fiber.
