Linewidth and longitudinal mode stability of wavelength-detunded distributed-feedback lasers.

We report in this paper the measured linewidth enhancement factors, linewidths, and single-mode stability for 1.3micron wavelength distributed-feedback lasers with detuned Bragg wavelengths. Single-mode operation with an 8 MHz was demonstrated for a laser detuned to 150angstroms shorter than the wavelength of the gain peak. The results are considered in the design of a tunable local oscillator laser.
