Linked Data for Telecom Networks - Abstract

Within telecommunication companies there are a lot of data about the networks and about the telecommunication customers that need to be configured, but there is also a lot of data, information coming over those networks. In the talk we argue some difficulties that we are encountering in setting up our Femtocell testbed network here in Ireland and how we are willing to adopt linked data to cleanly combining telco data like Configuration, Performance and Fault Management (respectively CM, PM and FM) data. We further continue with some requirements for linked data and semantics to better perform the access to data and enable the network knowledge. Indeed telecom networks do not have a static content, but for example the number of users connected to a Femto change frequently, requests for higher bandwidth are unforeseen and even the location of users can change over the time. With this we arise temporal and spatial issues - e.g., current state, event managment, locality and the need for a higher capacity to reason over networked linked data.
