Long-Distance Telephone Switch Modeling

New Image

While short-range planners of AT&T switch deployment make extensive use of site-specific data and detailed engineering simulation, long-range planners often use approximate, easy-to-use formulas sensitive to general trends. This talk will cver the modeling behind one such formula: switch size as a function of expected load in a changing network. Although most of this modeling has been in use in one form or another for the past decade, it is not entirely familiar. Using a mostly graphical portrayal, the focus will be on the concepts involved.
