Low-frequency radiotelegraph transmitter for arctic use
01 March 1950
Discusses the special requirements for transmitters used in regions of extreme magnetic storms. Since these regions are in the arctic, water cooling is undesirable, transport difficult and storms frequent. A 10 kW transmitter which may operate between 80 and 300 kc/s is described. The main units are exciter, power amplifier and rectifier which are limited to 1 900 lb weight each for transport by air. Structural and technical details of these units, also the aerial tuner, master oscillator and remote control unit, are given in detail with photographs.
