Machine Vision Assisted Work Stations for Lightwave Device Manufacture
17 March 1988
Three lightwave production workstations are described which are a part of the Optical Data Link production line at the AT&T-Reading Works. Although they perform different production tasks, each is an example of the manufacturing advantages that can be achieved when computer controlled robotic positioners are coupled with visual feedback. The potential benefits are significant and include reduced operator errors due to fatigue, increased product quality and consistency, and increased manufacturing efficiency.
