Macrocyclic bipyridines for alkyltin trichloride deactivation.
01 January 1984
The synthesis of two macrocyclic bipyridines whose frameworks are suitable for alkyltin trichloride encapsulation is described. These macrocycles form 1:1 complexes with CH(3)SnCl(3) in CDCl (3)-CD(3)CN solution, as verified by NMR spectroscopy. The cycles should sterically and electronically deactivate the Lewis acidic organotin chlorides which are formed in alkyltin trithiolate-stabilized poly(vinyl chloride).
