Mechanical properties and magnetic behavior of deformed metal glass wires.
01 January 1984
Fe(75)B(15)Si(10) and Co(72.5)B(15)Si(12.5) glass wires, when cold-drawn, exhibit high magnetic squareness and coercive forces ranging from 1.0 to 20 Oe. These wires, upon magnetic switching in a pick-up coil, produce a sharp voltage pulse of ~6V/cm2- turn. The Young's modulus E, delta E effects, fracture strength sigma(-f) and ac coercive force H(ac) of these wires in as- quenched and cold-drawn states are presented.
