MEMS-Based Variable Optical Interference Devices

A layered structure including a variable air gap or gaps is appropriately thought of as a dielectric stack whose optical properties can be driven. Using this simple mechanical device a wide range of optical functionality has been achieved by adjusting the layer structure.
