Metal-metal salt solutions.
01 January 1987
This is the written version of a lecture to be given at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Molten Salt Chemistry, Camerino, Italy, August 4-15, 1986. Recent developments in the study of metal-metal salt solutions are described with special emphasis on alkali halide and bismuth-bismuth halide solutions. Electron localization in ionic media, electron transport, the metal- nonmetal transition, and liquid-liquid phase separation are discussed in detail. The lecture also includes a brief tutorial review of spectroscopic techniques (optical, NMR, ESR, and neutron scattering) which have been particularly effective for the study of these phenomena in metal-metal salt solutions.
