Microalloyed Nanoparticles Formed from Metal Atoms Quench-Condensed in a Spinning Glass Cryostat

Unusual physical properties in alloy systems are anticipated when the spatial confinement of atoms, say in a particle of angstrom dimensions (nanoparticle), is coupled to the equilibrium or nonequilibrium state. To synthesize gram quantities of microalloyed nanoparticles we have quench-condensed metal atoms with an inert gas diluent in an evacuated glass cryostat spun in liquid nitrogen.
