mmWave Relayed Backhaul for Very High User Rate Delivery

New Image

Relay aided backhaul has been proposed to meet the challenge of providing Gbps high user rate over long distance (~1 km) in millimeterWave. The problem of backhaul topology design and optimal bandwidth-power partitioning has been formulated as a constrained optimization problem to minimize the bandwidth consumption for given user rate request. It has been shown that in the 28 GHz band, 1 Gbps user rate within cell range of 1 km is possible for favorable path loss scenarios such as street canyon and urban macro-cell, but less likely under severe path loss as in the 3GPP uMi-NLOS model.
