MOBILE EXECUTION ENVIRONMENT FOR NON INTERMEDIATED CONTENT DISTRIBUTION

Today, one of the biggest challenges for the Web is to be able to get benefits of the plurality of devices capable to get connected. One aspect of this challenge specifically concerned the nomadic devices (i.e. any smart phone, personal assistant or e-book reader). Indeed, while becoming increasingly popular today more people are browsing the web using their mobile instead of using a fixed computer the so called "Mobile Web" access still suffers from interoperability, usability, user empowerment and content distribution problems. Interoperability limitation has been enforced by the fact that application or service providers have always to make a choice between providing an application a la "one size fits for all" (i.e. pure web based and therefore device agnostic) and between providing a dedicated mobile application (i.e. for mobile device and that can change from device to device). In any case, if providing a device agnostic application decreases the overall development chain; it completely limits its powerfulness by poorly taking into account mobile capabilities. Nowadays, some initiatives (more depicted in the state of the art section) have been started but they are still far from user expectations and finally continue to frustrate him. In terms of usability issues, one could state that most of the current web applications are not easily viewed and browsed from a mobile (due to inappropriate page size or rendering; due to a missing common codec for video support, etc...).
