This paper describes the mobility models used within the cellular simulation tool STEAM developed by Lucent Technologies. Several models are available which cover, e.g., simple mobility models like random walk and movement on predefined streets. Moreover, some models allowing for movement to special attraction points and areas are introduced too. The main focus of this paper is the calculation of the turn probabilities at the street crossings while loading roadmap files. Here, several turning mechanisms are presented. One of these algorithms allows for the preservation of the initial traffic distribution duing the whole simulation run if the standard deviation of the velocity is very low run using minimum turn around probabilities.
