Modelocked distributed Bragg reflector laser

The fabrication and performance of a modelocked distributed Bragg reflector laser is described. The laser has a threshold current of 60mA and differential efficiency of 0.05 mW/mA when coupled into a singlemode fibre. Modelocked pulses with 7ps pulsewidth, with a time-bandwidth (Delta t Delta V) product of similar to 0.7, at similar to 5GHz, have been obtained.
