Modern Mathematical Analysis of Flexible Manufacturing Plants

This technical paper has been written for the Boletin de Informatica, which is edited by UNESCO, Regional Office for Latinamerica and the Caribean. The purpose of this paper is to expose to the recipient countries, the mathematical techniques currenty in use for the analysis of the flexible manufacturing plants. Although some mathematical concepts are introduced, this paper has been prepared for general readers. In addition, the technical article should be a research motivator for the graduate education in those countries, exposing some areas that required extensive research work. The solution to these research problems will allow the treatment of more general applications.
