Throughout its history, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been an ageless field, with exciting new developments following in rapid succession. As a field it promises to continue as such, driven by the fact that NMR is an extraordinarily powerful technique for obtaining new chemical information. In this article we outline some key questions in polymer chemistry, biochemistry, biopolymers, and organic and inorganic chemistry, and show how NMR spectroscopy can be used to provide the answers.
