In previous reports (ITD-02-42927K, ITD-02-43137N and ITD-02- 43768Z) the moment method was used to derive evolution equations for the energy, width and chirp of an optical pulse in a dispersive and dissipative (filtered) system. In this report the moment equations are reviewed, and used to study the effects of filtering on pulse dynamics and equilibria. Their predictions are compared to the results of new numerical simulations based on the Ginzburg-Landau equation.
