Monolithic high-capacity receivers in silicon

We discuss telecommunication receivers in silicon optics that contain Ge photodetectors monolithically integrated with other optical elements, such as polarization splitters, phase shifters, and filters. Such receivers promise low cost, small footprint, and high yield.
