Mosaic: Policy Homomorphic Network Extension

Network extension and transformation is a major challenge in the management ofmodern enterprise computer networks. Non-trivial configurations have emerged to preserve enterprise policies, such as L2/L3 reachability and security. Given this, network management becomes particularly problematic as an enterprise relocates its applications, in whole or in part, to remote data centers. In this paper, we conduct the first rigorous study on network extension while preserving enterprise policies. We design simple, efficient solutions to achieve the goal. We implement our algorithms and evaluate their effectiveness in bringing policy enforcement to the dynamic landscape of modern networks.
