Numerical study of optical soliton transmission amplified periodically by the stimulated Raman process.
01 January 1984
Stability of optical solitons amplified periodically by the stimulated Raman process in a fiber is numerically studied for various ranges of parameters. A stable transmission of >~ 10 G bit soliton train can be achieved by a careful choice of the parameters with reasonably large amplifier spacings (~- 30 km) and small soliton and pump powers (~- 30 mW).
