Plasmas with long life time (~20ns) are generated in a cavity target by intense CO(2) laser pulses (2x10(14) W/cm(2)). The plasma life depends on the configuration of irradiation and target, which may infer the thermal conduction inhibition by the laser-generated magnetic field. The experimental results agree with those of computer simulation with the magnetic inhibition of thermal conduction.
