This paper describes a packet switching performance measurement system developed for measuring packet switching field performance between X.25 interfaces. The system is capable of measuring call setup, call clearing and data transfer delay, virtual circuit throughput, service blocking, and errored packet, premature disconnect, reset, and restart rates. It consists of several remote test modules under the control of a central controller. The paper describes the hardware and software design and an example scenario for measuring data packet delay.
