Photonic integrated technologies for optical backhauling

Deployment of optical fiber in access network is already and will continue growing as a consequence of traffic explosion both in fixed and mobile networks. The paper describes eligible network scenarios for different kind of applications as well as some significant research results addressing integrated optical solutions for their implementation.
