Physics of Artificially Structured Materials

This talk will provide an overview of novel physics that has emerged from artificially structured semiconductor material. The emphasis is on transport in GaAs-AlGaAs heterostructures with a focus on the transport properties of two-dimensional electron systems. Recent progress in further reduction of the dimensionality to one-dimensional systems and point contacts will also be presented.
