This is a contribution for the Riken Symposium on "Interdisciplinary Science Studies with Intermediate Energy Accelerators" to be held on October 15, 1985 in Tokyo. With a view to finding analogies with slow muons, the physics of slow positrons at surfaces is outlined. Some possibilities for moderators that might make slow muons, thermal muonium, and the mu(+)mu(-) atom (muium) are explored.
