Planar 2 x 2 optical multiplexer with rectangular response

A planar 2 x 2 wavelength router with rectangular transfer functions is realised by using three waveguide gratings combined with a segmented reflector. The arrangement can be realised in integrated form with low loss and low crosstalk.
