PMD Tolerance Enhancement by Adaptive Receiver for 43Gb/s DPSK NRZ- and RZ-Modulation

We compared experimentally PMD tolerances of an adaptively equalising 43Gb/s receiver for DPSK NRZ/RZ formats taking into account first and second order PMD. At 10-5 outage an improvement of PMD tolerance by 55% is found.
