Polarization Dependent Gain Spectrum of a 1.5micron Traveling-Wave Optical Amplifier
01 January 1986
Traveling-wave (TW) semiconductor optical amplifiers will become key components in future optical communication, switching, and signal processing systems. In most envisioned applications, these amplifiers are expected to be used with a randomly polarized input signal at an arbitrary wavelength. The gain spectrum of a useful TW amplifier should therefore both be smooth and have a low sensitivity to the input polarization.
