Polarization Mode Dispersion Supported Transmission in 40 Gb/s Longhaul Systems

The interaction of intra-channel effects and polarization mode dispersion in 40 Gb/s transmission systems can support signal propagation by reducing the non-linear impairments. The phenomenon is experimentally observed in a 400-km on-off keying transmission. Simulations predict its impact in ultra longhaul intensity and phase modulated systems.
