Power penalty due to decision-time jitter in APD receivers.

The previous calculations of power penalties on receiver sensitivity of PIN receivers due to the presence of timing jitter are extended to include APD receivers. It is shown that the presence of timing jitter will lower the optical gain of APD receivers and will reduce the improvement in receiver sensitivity of using APDs over PIN detectors.
