Powering the voice-data convergence trend

One of the key decisions that communications system designers face when designing new networks for both voice and data, relates to the power architecture. The question that must be answered is should a bulk or distributed architecture be employed? Here, the argument is made that on many counts distributed architectures offer the solution to the power requirements of the converged, voice and data network.
