Predicting the Future of ICT

Wireless communications gained its fantastic development because: i) it changes a paradigm of communications from station‐to‐station to person‐to‐person, and ii) technology improvement makes the telephone terminal a multimedia terminal processor. Both points above are revolutionary and give answer to the needs of people. This successful story was incredible fast (three decades). What is next for wireless communications? Future research could be either on technology or on applications. The success of both technology and application researches depend from several factors which are not related to technology and applications as e.g.: fashion design (as Google glass), creating a user needs, etc., which needs the interactions of engineers with other teams operating in completely different activities, psychologists, fashion designers, marketing. Applications are, by their nature, interdisciplinary researches, so the cooperation and the understanding of researchers coming from different fields became a must.
