Priority Treatment for NSEP Traffic in the AT&T Network (U)
(U) National Security Emergency Preparedness (NSEP) traffic in the Public Switched Network (PSN) requires priority treatment t ensure service when the PSN is congested. In the AT&T Switched Network (ASN) a trunk reservation control has been proposed to provide priority treatment for NSEP calls identified through the Nationwide Emergency Telecommunications System (NETS) dialing plan. Simulation studies reported here show that trunk reservation avoids congestion due to public traffic and provides for NETS calls a performance close to that of the uncongested network.
