Processing of Glass for Photonics

Alternative to vapor deposition are being sought to provide less expensive processing of waveguides as well as new compositions and structures. The latter reflect expanded interest in glass properties: beyond just transmission, to include amplification, switching, etc. Colloidal processing is one means being pursued to satisfy new applications.
