Progress in III-V Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits
01 January 1988
Optoelectronic integrated circuits (OEICs) are monolithic semiconductor components which combine a variety of optical and electronic functions on a single chip. The integration to be achieved in OEICs can lead to optoelectronic components with improved performance, higher reliability, and lower costs, just as the integration of all-electronic functions has achieved these goals for electronic ICs. In this presentation, progress in the technology and application of OEICs is reviewed, and future research and development directions are outlined.
