An experimental demonstration of the generation and detection of pulsed squeezed light using parametric downconversion is described. Mode-locked pulse trains of green light downconvert in nonlinear crystals to form 100 ps pulses of squeezed light at wavelengths near 1.06microns. The pulse pump train allows large peak pump intensities which should extend squeezed light generation to many nonlinear media throughout the spectrum without the need to enhance the squeezing process with optical cavities. Applications to squeezed light enhanced polarization interferometers are also discussed.
