q-Dependent Energy Scale in The Correlated Kondo Lattice

New Image

The magnetoresistance R and magnetization M of UBe 13 have been measured in high fields up to 23T, and the functional form of R and M were found to be well described by results of theoretical studies of the Kondo-impurity problem. At temperatures > 10K UBe 13 behaves as an assembly of non-interacting Kondo centers: both R and M give the same characteristic energy, equivalent to 70 - 80 T. At lower temperatures, however, R gives a temperature dependent characteristic field tending to zero at T-0, whereas M gives still the same "high-T" scale.
