Quality Improvement and the Logic of Problem-Solving

Models of problem solving developed in the cognitive sciences over the past three decades are compared to some of Bell Laboratories Quality Improvement processes. The theoretical analyses from the cognitive sciences shed light on the relation of various PQMI methods, their strengths and weaknesses.
