The R7615 Transmitter readily meets the ODL(TM) 200 speed requirements without the use of the charge extraction circuit and will be remetallized to remove all such circuitry. A very important added benefit is a 25% reduction in power consumption. The purpose of the charge extraction circuit is to eliminate the turn-off transition tail in the detected LED light output by removing the stored charge at turn-off. Detailed voltage probe measurements internal to the chip of the R7615 Transmitter LED Driver show the part of the charge extraction circuit which generates a momentary pulse to extract charge during the LED turn-off transition to work exactly as predicted at 200Mbits/s.
