Recent Developments in Nonlinearly Constrained Optimization

New Image

Within the past ten years, two major approaches have become accepted as the "state of the art" in treating constraint nonlinearities: direct use of the Lagrangian function, and subproblems based on constraint linearization. The motivation behind these approaches will be discussed, along with their connection to earlier methods. Some areas of major progress will also be described, as well as topics for future research.
