Relative Effectiveness of Thermal Cycling versus Burn-In - A Case Study
01 January 1992
An environmental stress testing (EST) program is being conducted at AT&T on various types of communications equipment. One issue of concern in developing an appropriate EST regimen is the effectiveness of thermal cycling and burn-in in revealing potential reliability problems. This of course depends on the type and the distribution of failure modes which happen to be present in a particular product. However, similar electronic equipment might have similar failure modes in general.
