Reliable-Computing Technology for Transaction Processing

The demand for more reliable computing systems has grown rapidly with advances in hardware and increasing dependence on computer systems for critical on-line applications. This talk reviews the main concepts and issues in fault-tolerant high-availability computing, addressing the hardware and software aspects of designing such systems. The talk reviews the architectural approaches of the major commercial vendors of On-Line Transaction-Processing systems, and summarizes the emerging trends in FT technology.
