Silicon Photonic Devices for Complex Modulation Formats and Coherent Communications

Silicon photonics has the potential to achieve compact and power-efficient coherent optical transceivers. This is especially needed for next generation pluggable modules to be used in metro and short-distance coherent optical systems. We review recently reported silicon photonic devices for this application.
