Silicon Photonic Integrated Circuits for Coherent Transmission

We review recently advances in coherent transmitters and receivers based on monolithic silicon photonic integrated circuits. The high-degree photonic integration on silicon promises small-form-factor, low-power and low-cost transceivers for future coherent systems.
