Simulation and Experimental Demonstration of an IM-DD System Enabled by End-to-End Deep Learning

We simulate and experimentally validate an IM-DD fibre optic communication system solely relying on an end-to-end deep neural network. We report the first demonstration of such system delivering 42 Gb/s below the 7% HD FEC after 20 and 40 km at 1550 nm.
