Simultaneous measurement over > 15 nm of Henry factor of an optical transmitter using the sinusoidal optical phase modulation method

Simultaneous measurement of the Henry factor over more than 15 nm of an optical transmitter is implemented using a novel technique based on sinusoidal phase modulation method, without using a filter. This fast technique was successfully applied to a directly modulated Fabry Perot laser to measure simultaneously the linewidth enhancement factor (LEF) of 14 longitudinal modes. We also applied it to an electro-absorption modulator (EAM) to determine the -factor over 15 nm optical bandwidth and a very good agreement is found with the fiber transfer function method. ©2010 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (000.0000) General; (000.2700) General science.
